DIVE FISHING

DIVE FISHING

Dive fishing is a recreational fishery that consists of capturing underwater with the use of a harpoon.

Which species can you fish while dive fishing ?

It is practically possible to fish everything through this fishing technique, but it is subject to numerous laws which differ from country to country and from region to region. It is therefore necessary to inquire with the federation of the submarine hunting according to the place where you wish to hunt.

Regulations related to dive fishing

In France, the practice of diving is subject to a number of restrictions which are subject to numerous updates. It is therefore important to be regularly informed before starting.

Today, it is compulsory to have a license from one of the three federations (Nautical Federation of Sport Fishing in Snorkel, Federation Subsea Hunting Passion or French Federation of Underwater Studies and Sports) A civil liability insurance that mentions the practice of underwater hunting for diving.

What equipment do you need for dive fishing ?

The mask

The mask will protect your eyes and nose while allowing you to see properly underwater, it's up to you to try it. Tip: do not tighten it too hard, the water pressure will take care of it when you go down deep.

The combination

If you only have to choose one combination for the year, choose a black 5mm combination. If you are hunting only in the summer opt instead for 2mm, and winter for 7mm. As for the colors, the blue combinations are ideal for the depths, while the camouflaged suits are adapted to the hunting in rock surfaces.

The rifle

The sandow (the tensioner that will propel the boom) must be neither too hard nor too soft, otherwise the arrow will vibrate and in the second it will plunge too fast.
The arrow (or harpoon) must have a length adapted to that of the crossbow and a diameter adapted to the power of the sandow. If the arrow is straight, the barb (the tip of the arrow) must be slightly twisted so that it will rise after piercing the fish.
Concerning the wire connecting the arrow to the crossbow, one will opt for a single strand, because it is a thread that does not tangle (does not make knots) and does not brake the arrow.
The size of the rifle will depend on the fishing technique used:
- Indian fishing (consists of surprising the fish by swimming slowly near the surface or the bottom): 90-100 cm.
- The casting (consists of catching the fish by letting itself directly descend from the surface towards him): 110-120 cm.
- The hunting hole (consists of looking for the fish hidden in the holes and faults of the rocks): 75cm.
- The agachon (consists of staying immobile at the bottom, on the lookout, and waiting for the fish): 100-110 cm.

The Lest

The ballast must be sufficient for the diver to immerse himself without difficulty. It will vary according to the weight of the diver, its equipment, the salinity of the water, etc. It can range from 0 (for a diver without a combination) to 12 or 15 kg. If you do not dive more than 10 meters and have opted for the combination of 5 mm, the proportion will be about 1 kg ballast for 10 kg of your weight.

The Diving Buoy

Essential safety, the diving buoy is a float surmounted by a red flag with a white diagonal. This flag indicates to ships around the presence of a diver which according to the law of 1988, obliges them to reduce their speed and not to approach within 100 meters
