A fishing technique of Italian origin, Bolognese fishing is an improved version of blow fishing. This method of reel fishing is practiced in some rivers or in rivers with more or less slow currents. What are the specificities of Bolognese fishing?
The type of float used differentiates Bolognese fishing from English fishing. For Bolognese fishing, a classic float held in two points is used. The assembly of this float is identical to that of a line used for blow fishing, while for English fishing, a waggler is used, which is fixed only at the base. This arrangement has a considerable influence on the holding of the line.
In the Bolognese style, it is possible to carry out different types of teasing procedures, unlike the English one. The first enemy of Bolognese fishing is the wind that goes in the direction of the current: in this condition, the line is difficult to control. In this case, it is recommended to cancel the fishing trip or change the technique. For Bolognese fishing, it is preferable to opt for days without wind or when the wind goes up the current slightly.
What equipment should I use for Bolognese fishing?
For Bolognese fishing, Bolognese rods are used. These rods are really lightweight and measure between 5 and 8 meters, with an average size of 6 meters. What makes the Bolognese rod different is the fact that it is equipped with rings. The classic version is equipped with a hooded or classic reel filled with nylon from 15 to 20 hundredths. A special Bolognese fishing rod also has floats. These floats are chosen according to the fishing location. A pear-shaped float is suitable for a zero or very slow current, for example. For a more sustained current, a stockier float of the reverse pear or ball type is recommended. Whatever the fishing conditions, it is always preferable to use inner line floats. The choice of lead to be used for the Bolognese rod will depend on the current and depth of the fishing site.

What types of throwing should be adopted for Bolognese fishing?
