cette espèce ce mois-ci ?
The Brown Trout belongs to the Salmonidae family. According to the location, the adult size varies from 25 cm to 80 cm for 300 to 800 g. It lives for 3 to 6 years. The spawning period starts in October and end in January. The female can lay up to 4000 eggs. The fishing period is open from the second Saturday of March until the third Sunday of September. This fish is not hard to catch but the fishing needs complex skills.
Depending on its environment, the brown trout have a very variable color, but the brown trout, as its name shows, is rather brown with scattered black and red spots, depending on the spawners. It has a certain mimicry according to the bottom of its living spaces since the dominant brown will become a green dress if it lives close to the banks where yellow and even sometimes silvery white will mix. It has a "useless" adipose fin between the dorsal fin and the caudal fin. The head is tapered, strong and has a powerful jaw. Its back is a pretty black or night blue.
Brown trout lifestyle
The Brown Trout is a territorial fish, which defends its place and access to food. The largest trout therefore reserves the best place to hunt. It also occupies a refuge position that they share with other fish in case of danger.
The Brown Trout spawn from October to January (hence the opening period) depending on the water temperature (it must be between 5 and 12°). The Brown Trout are sexually mature when they are 2 or 3 years old. The legal catch sizes correspond to fish that have already spawned at least once. Breeding occurs in well oxygenated and shallow waters. Be careful not to walk in the water during the breeding period!
Small trout feed exclusively on invertebrates, worms, aquatic larvae, insects. As it grows, it integrates fish into this meal: minnows, dowels, bleak fish, roaches and also small trout...
Brown Trout habitat
The Brown trout is mainly found in Europe, but has been introduced in many other continents and countries. It can therefore be found in America, in the north of the United States and Canada in particular, but also in Oceania with successful introductions in New Zealand and Australia. It is particularly fond of cold, well-oxygenated streams, such as rivers, streams and lakes.
Brown Trout angling
The most famous trout fishing technique is certainly lure fishing, which can be practiced with small swimming fish or with soft lures and finally with the famous spoon fishing which continues to catch fish regularly.
You will also find fly fishing enthusiasts, a graceful and technical fishing method that gives excellent results on both small trouts and large specimens.
Then come older techniques, such as the handy minnow which do not require expensive technical equipment and which give excellent results from the opening.
